Government Engineering College, Thrissur alumni Qatar Chapter was formed on 19th December, 1991 with a name “GETE – Govt. Engineering College Thrissur Engineers” which was later changed as “QGET” in September 2006. QGET is affiliated to Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC) under the aegis of Indian Embassy, Qatar. The main aim of this alumni association is to bring together and create a rapport between the Engineers (and their families) who have passed-out from Government Engineering College, Thrissur during various years and from various various branches of Engineering. At present there are more than 300 registered alumni members for Q-GET and along with their families make it as one among the largest Indian Engineering college association in Qatar.

Q-GET association is steered by a Management Committee elected once in two years by the members. Q-GET MC organizes various technical, cultural and sports activities throughout the year for its members which help to maintain the strong bond between its members. Most of the programmes have a nostalgic touch which brings back the memories of the college days. Every two years an Annual General Body meeting will be organized in which the new MC takes over the charge from the previous one. AGM is followed by the mega event named Tharhaib in which various cultural programmes by the Q-GET members and families are staged. Few of the main programmes organized by Q-GET are Vasantholsavam (celebration of Onam, the festival of flowers), Punyanilaavu (Ifthaar during the holy month of Ramadan), Indoor games etc.

Q-GET also encourages its members to participate in sports events. Q-GET sports has tremendous success record in the Engineers Forum (EF) Inter alumni sports events conducted every year.
