Doha, Qatar: The QGET (Government Engineering College, Thrissur Alumni, Qatar Chapter) celebrated the Keralolsavam 2024 at The Hamilton International School with an event that truly captured the spirit of Onam and Kerala’s cultural legacy. The event, marking both Onam and Kerala Piravi, showcased traditional Kerala festivities with grandeur and flair, drawing members and families together in a colorful celebration.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Treasurer Varghese Varghese followed by an inspiring Presidential address by Tomy KV. Formal inauguration was done by lighting the lamp by senior QGET members John EJ, Rajan CK, President Tomy KV, Dr. Gopal H. Rao, QGET Vice President and Keralolsavam’s overall coordinator and Cultural Secretary Ms. Shahna Zubair in the presence of all Management Committee members.

The rhythmic beats of the Chenda Melam by Melam Doha followed, heightening the festive energy as the beloved Maveli made a traditional appearance, symbolizing the spirit of Onam. The cultural performances then unfolded, with vibrant dance displays by both adults and children. The audience was charmed by an Onam-themed fashion show by the youngest members, while talented QGET singers delivered a soulful medley of songs, capturing the hearts of attendees.

Adding to the celebration, the music band Ekkoz took to the stage with an energetic performance, bringing live music into the heart of the festivities. The event concluded with fun games that revived the joy of Kerala’s festival season, leaving everyone with cherished memories.

Event was graced by the presence of various dignitaries from different organizations under Indian Embassy and also with executive members from other engineering college alumni.
